TBS is a project made in collaboration with Juliette Kleinjan.

It explores the moral and ethical considerations that take place in the grey area where law, psychiatry and human rights intersect when it comes to detention under hospital order.

In an illustrative dialogue, Juliette and I explored TBS and its main themes. What has resulted from this is a zine following a young man from crime to release. We ask the reader for empathy, but acknowledge all of the difficult considerations one has to make in deciding what is good or bad, or both.

In the end, Juliette and I created a boardgame that simulates what it is like to process through the TBS system. The game itself is almost impossibly lengthy and tedious, meant to increase the awareness in players that TBS is indeed often a lengthy process that takes years to complete, and is not without setbacks. In this way, we hope to increase players' understanding of TBS, how it works, and how their perception of it may have been inaccurate at the start.
