Residing here today is a textile snapshot of citizenship in Rotterdam. Stemming from an analysis of institutional discourse on participation and citizenship, this album quilt attempts to capture what it means to be a citizen in Rotterdam at present. How are we meant to be? What is the ideal citizen? And what implications does this have on the inclusion or exclusion of certain people in our city? Searching for the border between belonging and exclusion, Residing here today captures various elements of participation and citizenship, separate yet interconnected, as a moment in time.
In ten years from now, will we still reside here the same way?
