The ball has been rolling in the same direction for so long, it seems difficult to make it stop, or change its course. Our systems of government are so large and complex, some say the system runs itself. Of course, this isn't true- after all, it is people that choose to organize processes in a certain way. These same people continue to try to improve government systems to serve citizens better, with their best intentions. But is the constant improvement of what is already there really the intervention we need? With myths of progress I try to imagine what that distance, that mystification, between people and the processes that run their lives looks like. And to ask: What does progress actually look like?
